Latissim: The Sect of the Unbroken

He tried to strengthen himself with forbidden magic. His flesh rotted from his bones. His skull split bare. And yet he lived.

Latissim: The Sect of the Unbroken

Latissim was one of the Mother’s eldest sons. After the cleansing - the genocide she ordered from her deathbed - he went home. He found his mother’s bracelet on the ground. He knew, immediately, who the killer was.

It was his brother Dorsum. Dorsum had realized what all of it had been for. All the sacrifices. All the suffering. All of it was their mother’s work. And even if she had done it for them, in his eyes it was still unforgivable. So he passed judgment over her fate.

Latissim hunted him down. Confronted him. Challenged him to a duel to kill him. Both were trained warriors. In the end, Dorsum fell.

Latissim melted down the weaponry of his defeated brother, and he became the strongest among them all.

Then he heard of experiments in which users made themselves even more powerful warriors with magic applied directly to the self. He forced a local “witch” to teach him. The woman warned him: there were only an incredibly small number of experimental examples that had ended in success.

Latissim did not back down.

The magic failed catastrophically.

Flames coursed through his body. His flesh rotted from his bones. His body twisted and melted into his armor. His skull was stripped bare, and only a few muscle fibers remained intact on his skeleton.

Yet life remained in him.

He saw himself reflected in the water. He considered stopping. Stopping and giving up the hunger for power. That was his decision.

But someone, or something, decided otherwise. The moment passed. And Latissim, hiding behind the name of his brother Dorsum, began recruiting his own army.

He made them believe he had been trying to save his mother when he became so hideous. That they could live forever if they discovered what blocked this kind of magic use. And so the sect was formed, led by a man hiding behind a mask, to repair the damage done to himself and cause even more harm to others.

Eventually two siblings and a Native defeated him in a bloody struggle. His sect was dismantled.

But the undead do not always stay buried. In the Prologue, you may find his cemetery. You may find it empty.
